この時点で、レコード大賞の予想がつかないようなヒット曲不在の年だった。しかし、最も印象的な曲となると、日本では3月に公開されたディズニー映画「アナと雪の女王」の挿入歌「Let it go」 であることは、異論がないところだろう。
ディズニーがそれほど好きではないので映画は見ていないが、「Let it go」はどうしたって耳に入ってくる。良い歌だと思い何度も聞いてみる。原曲の歌唱にもう少し余裕があればよいのにと思い、いろいろな歌手のカバーを聞き比べる。そうすると、日本語の歌詞と英語の歌詞の違いが気になってくる。
歌詞の翻訳には、メロディに乗せるという制約があるから意訳や原詩からの乖離は仕方のないことだ。日本語の歌詞も、それなりによく考えられたものであると思う。しかし、それでも、あまりに前向き一辺倒な詩になっているのが、どうしても不満に感じずにはいられない。
原詩には、主人公の前向きな姿勢の裏に、孤独と虚勢がべったりと張り付いている。だからこそ、彼女の一人で生きていくという決心が輝くように思われる。
そこで、原詩に忠実な私訳を作ってみた。映画を見ずに正しい翻訳ができるはずはないと言われれば、その通りだろう。これは、正体を隠して人間世界で暮らしていた雪女が、本来の雪女として孤独だが自由に生きようと決心する歌という程度の理解しかない者による翻訳である。
